ACCV 2020 paper accepted

Our paper "A Calibration Method for the Generalized Imaging Model with Uncertain Calibration Target Coordinates" was accepted for the Asian Conference on Computer Vision (ACCV 2020)! The conference will be held online like most of the conferences this year. Our paper presentation will be available there in early December.

    On 1 January 2016, the DFG-funded Priority Programme 1835 "Cooperatively interacting automobiles" was launched, in which the IIIT (Prof. Puente) is involved with the subproject "Discrete event modelling of cooperative decision-making behaviour in automatic vehicle guidance".   • Prof. Puente becomes Editor-in-Chief of TM (July 2014)On July 1st, 2014, Prof. Puente and Prof. Zagar (University of Linz) were appointed Editor-in-Chief of the renowned trade journal Technisches Messen (TM). TM addresses the entire spectrum of modern, multidisciplinary measurement technology.

  • New edition of the book "Ereignisdiskrete Systeme" (October 2013)
    While classical control engineering is based on a uniform system theory, various description methods are used for discrete-event systems. The book Discrete Event Systems by Prof. Puente and Prof. Kiencke systematically deals with all relevant methods. The 3rd edition has been completely revised and supplemented in order to convey the demanding topic of current and practical issues.

  • New book on Automatic Visual Inspection and Image Processing (August 2012)
    Together with Prof. Beyerer and Dr. Frese, Prof. Puente has published a book on Automatic Visual Inspection. The textbook deals systematically and comprehensively with all relevant procedures for image acquisition and evaluation for automatic visual inspection.
     
  • OCM 2013 (March 2013)
    The International Conference on Optical Characterization of Materials (OCM 2013) will be held for the first time in Karlsruhe on March 6 and 7, 2013. It is organized by IIIT together with the Karlsruhe Centre for Material Signatures and the German Chapter of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society.     Innovative metrological systems are becoming increasingly important in research, development and production. Together with Prof. Beyerer (Fraunhofer IOSB and KIT) Prof. Puente published the issue 04/2012 of the magazine Technisches Messen, which is dedicated to this highly topical topic. It presents a selection of outstanding contributions to the XXV Measurement Symposium 2011 in Karlsruhe.

    IIIT has joined forces with other KIT institutes and the Fraunhofer IOSB to form the Karlsruhe Center for Material Signatures KCM. The KCM bundles competences in the fields of laboratory technology, information technology and systems technology and offers these to its customers.     To make automobiles safer, more environmentally friendly and more comfortable, they are increasingly being equipped with sensors and communication capabilities. But how can the wealth of information available be exploited to the full? This highly topical topic is the subject of a special issue "Information Fusion for Cognitive Automobiles" published by the international journal Information Fusion, edited jointly by Prof. Puente and Prof. Beyerer.
     
  • Inter-Disciplinary Research and Application Award 2011 (April 2011)
    The Technical Committee on Power Line Communications of the IEEE Communications Society has appointed Prof. Dr.-Klaus Dostert, Professor at the Institute for Industrial Information Technology, received the Inter-Disciplinary Research and Application Award 2011. His groundbreaking and extensive work on characterizing and modeling powerline communication channels has a deep and far-reaching influence on the understanding and realization of data transmission via power lines.
     
  • "Best Paper Award" of the Image Processing Forum 2010 (December 2010)
    Dipl.-Ing. Matthias Michelsburg, scientific assistant at the Institute for Industrial Information Technology, was awarded the "Best Paper Award" at the Forum Bildverarbeitung 2010 in Regensburg for his contribution "Spectral Band Selection in the Design of Automatic Sorting Systems". We congratulate him on this award.
     
  • Forum Image Processing 2010 (December 2010)
    Image processing plays a key role in many areas of technology for fast and non-contact data acquisition and has conquered an indispensable place in various applications. Therefore, three years after the extremely successful conference "Image Processing in Measurement and Automation Technology", the Institute for Industrial Information Technology, together with the VDI/VDE Society for Measurement and Automation Technology and the Fraunhofer IOSB , once again organized a German-language event on the subject of image processing on December 2 and 3, 2010 in Regensburg's Old Town.     In cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, Systems Engineering and Image Evaluation (FOSB), the FZI Research Center for Computer Science and the Gesellschaft für Informatik e. V. (Society for Computer Science), the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, Systems Engineering and Image Evaluation (FOSB) and the FZI Research Center for Computer Science, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Science has developed a new research program. (GI), the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (IIIT) participated in the 33rd Annual German Conference on Artificial Intelligence (KI 2010 ) from September 21-24, 2010 in Karlsruhe.   • Ernst Schoemperlen Prize 2009 (June 2010)
    Two works that were carried out at the Institute for Industrial Information Technology have been awarded by the Ernst Schoemperlen Foundation: The 1st prize went to Dr.-Ing. L. Webersinke for her research on "Adaptive powertrain control for the optimisation of the driving behaviour of commercial vehicles" and to Dipl.-Ing. K. Back for her "Analysis of knock sensor signals for the detection of injection processes using time-frequency methods".

    Distributed measuring systems play an increasingly important role in many areas of technology. Together with theVDI/VDE-Gesellschaft für Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik, the Institute of Industrial Information Technology organized an expert forum on "Distributed Measuring Systems", which took place on March 24 and 25, 2010 in Braunschweig.   • Eduard Rhein Prize 2008 (November 2008)
    Prof. Dr.-Ing. U. Kiencke, Director of the Institute for Industrial Information Technology from 1992 to 2008, receives the Eduard Rhein Technology Award 2008 for the invention, international standardization and dissemination of the Controller Area Network (CAN). CAN is a real-time capable, reliable, open communication system for embedded control systems in automotive, automation and medical technology as well as in consumer goods and consumer electronics, which today is the world market leader.
